Rubber is a good insulator so the surface temperature can be significantly cooler than the hot spot so it can be misleading. In the lightweight Aliner classes, it's more about correct tire pressure, RV wight and slow down to sixty or less.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05192165178704978550noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4197373783392349499.post-49644090582395178042019-08-26T04:49:52.383-07:002019-08-26T04:49:52.383-07:00I have a laser temperature gun and measure tire te...I have a laser temperature gun and measure tire temperature when we stop. TT should always use the inflation associated with the tire max load. They also need to confirm that their static load on each tire is no greater than 85% of the max load to allow for side loading due to wind and cornering.Tireman9https://www.blogger.com/profile/09813984937064446653noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4197373783392349499.post-82787297711855057772016-05-17T08:56:18.075-07:002016-05-17T08:56:18.075-07:00"Thumping" tires is an old trick that ba..."Thumping" tires is an old trick that based on controlled testing may allow a few experienced people to guess tire inflation +/- 20 psi. I check the tire pressure at home before we leave on a trip - before the sun warms stuff up. I walk around and 'thump' the tires every time we stop (to rest, or whatever), just like I did for 35 years as an OTR trucker, and also have for 20+ years RV'ing. So far, one flat on a trailer, and one separated tread on our tow vehicle. I think I'll just keep doing this. MrTommyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08296096084733046456noreply@blogger.com
